The Catholic Church is committed to working tirelessly to educate, train, and guide our communities in the ways of justice and respect for children and in the knowledge of their innate God-given dignity. It is the Bishop’s intention that there be ongoing consultation and dialogue between the Diocese of Manchester and its parishes as it moves forward to insure that Promise to Protect, Pledge to Heal, The Protection of Children and Young People: Policy and Procedures is the very best response to addressing this grave matter.
All parish clergy, staff, and those volunteers who work with children are required to participate in a training for child safety. In addition to this training, the Diocese also requires criminal background checks, various documentation, and, in some cases, additional references.
